31 Aug

Our German invasion has officially begun, so it’s time to stop trying to figure out how to say “fabulous premium denim” in German and just get your hands on some

Your Fall Fash Must-Have: Jessica Alba in The Skinny

30 Aug

A cotton tee and jeans combo may be a tried-and-tested wardrobe staple, but the question of how to keep the look fresh and stylish (as opposed to sloppy) remains. Jessica Alba shows us how it’s done to perfection – all you need are the right accessories (sunglasses, statement handbag, Doc Martens; The brown paper bag is optional) and a pair of jeans that fit just right. Jess’s pick? 7’s newest skinny fit, appropriately named The Skinny (in Worn Indigo, $149)—the slim shape is fitted from top through bottom and stops just below the ankle, so legs look long and lean. Voilà—here’s how to do fabulous street style with minimal effort.

A Lipstick Made Just For Jeans!

30 Aug

Since the dawn of denim, ladies knew that to augment their beloved blues with a quick glam fix, they needed nothing more than a tube of solid, tried-and-true red lipstick. Poppy King, the mastermind of hot makeup line the Lipstick Queen took this age-old fact seriously and set out to create the perfect ‘stick for blue jeans, producing the all-purpose (and appropriately named) Jean Queen lipstick.

Meant to enhance the blue in the denim, the lipstick and glosses all have a hint of rose and a cool undertone to brighten up the face. The collection’s gloss is slightly more opaque for impact, while the lipstick has plenty of shine (but no glitter) to enhance the matte of jeans. Toss it in your favorite pair of 7’s back pocket to  keep your casual beauty routine deceptively basic—don’t worry, the shade goes with everything! ($25, available here).

Rock Out With Living Days Tomorrow Night

27 Aug

We’re always down to discover new musicians, which is why we’re pretty amped about tomorrow night, when new wave Brooklyn rockers Living Days will take the stage at NYC’s Webster Hall. Channel your inner rocker-star with the pre-release of the upcoming album, Make Out Room Part 1—we guarantee you’ll be on your feet. The sound is punk; singer Stephonik Youth packs a ton of vocal drama over synthesized, electro-pop beats for a sound that’s part The Cars part Missing Persons. Plus with personalities that are Lady Gaga-esque in training (the bandmates live together in a church with a cat named Bolshevik), you leave wanting to well, make out.

From Actor To Artist: James Franco’s First Solo Exhibition at AIR’s Clocktower Gallery

27 Aug

Hollywood pin-up James Franco is currently starring in “Eat, Pray, Love”—but you can also get a glimpse of his artistic side this month (is there anything he can’t do) at AIR’s Clocktower Gallery in New York. The actor-turned-artist’s first solo exhibition, The Dangerous Book Four Boys, has been extended through the first week of October and features short films, drawings, photographs and sculptures  drawing on themes that are familiar to Franco, like masculinity and celebrity. For some gallery chic style, try one of the new items from photographer Mika Ninagawa’s range for 7 here. We suggest wearing it to the exhibition—maybe you’ll catch Franco’s eye.

26 Aug
Angelenos aren’t the only ones who’ve been riding some crazy weather patterns lately. Despite the highs and lows, we’re taking a tip from Heidi Klum to enlist the perfect in-between-season topper: a classic denim jacket. Cut to perfection, this 7 style, we call it the Tomboy, is not only going to serve as your fall jacket staple, it’s a great layering piece under or over all your lush cashmere knits and coats—or, of course, just a plain old T-shirt (à la Heidi!).

No-Cal Goes Neutra At Our New Broadway Plaza Store

25 Aug

Clearly, one Northern Californian store just wasn’t enough for us. If you don’t live smack-dab in San Fran, now you can still get in on the 7 love with our new boutique at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek. And, of course, we’re bringing some So-cal style up North—the store channels iconic architects like Richard Neutra (Brad Pitt’s fave) and Rudolph Schindler, plus current LA design star Marmol Radziner. Look for the one-of-a-kind blown glass ceiling fixtures, custom mesh drapery, and some vintage seating—even if you’re not in the mood to shop, fit a little modernism into your browsing—your apartment will thank us later

Time To Play Hooky With James Dean…Seriously!

25 Aug

Take an extra-long break today to check out the 1950s classic Rebel Without a Cause at LACMA’s Bing Theater—the movie closes tomorrow. The lunchtime flick not only stars some serious eye candy in the form of a brooding James Dean, but it’s also one of the most stylishly inspiring films to date. Dean’s wardrobe of jeans, tight-fitting tees, and leather bombers immortalized the original bad boy look—and also set the standard for what teens (and pretty much everyone else) would want to wear for decades to come. For a modern-day Dean look, check out our contrast jersey bomber.
