Ahoy: Reese Witherspoon Works The Nautical Look In Our Roxannes!

30 Sep

We’re huge fans of Reese Witherspoon’s timeless style—she’s the master at working classic pieces into a look that’s cool without being too dowdy or trendy. So, we’re not surprised that the star nailed the nautical craze in a non over-the-top way, pairing a blue-and-white striped boat shirt with cork-wedge platforms, a French-looking leather-and-canvas tote, and, of course, our Roxanne jeans in a super-dark wash that goes with just about everything. If you’re searching for a never-out-of-style piece, we suggest you make like Reese and get your hands on a pair of these sexy staples.

Snuggle Up: 4 Must-Have Sweaters For Fall

28 Sep

While the weather hasn’t settled on one temperature or the other (what’s with today’s humidity??), we’ve already started retiring our summer wardrobes for some pieces that can counter any unexpected chills. October is days away, which means you better start thinking about stocking up on our favorite cold-weather necessity—sweaters. We’ve rounded up four cozy options (two for guys, two for gals)  that will make you wish for chillier temps.

1. Long Sleeve Wrap Sweater: We’re crazy for cashmere, which is why this drapey shawl-collared sweater made our must-list. It’s so versatile, we suggest keeping it on hand for any weather emergencies.

2. Breton Stripe Cardigan: Stripes are seasonless, and this flowey number mixes charcoal and blue  for a color-scheme that goes with just about everything. It’s lightweight enough for right now, but not too light for later.

3. Long Sleeve Thermal  Hoodie: If you’re yearning for thermal, this blue-dyed option can go from day to night in a flash—just throw on a blazer and you’re done. P.S.: Did we mention it looks great with denim?

4. Double Placket Cardigan: Perfect over a T-shirt or a button-down, this cardie is made out of cotton that feels like cashmere, plus the ribbed design adds an unexpected twist.

Jet-Setter: Marion Cotillard Gives Her 7’s Some Tres Travel Chicness

27 Sep

Ooh la la! The French are always so fashionable, and Oscar-winning actress Marion Cotillard might just lead the Parisian pack. The <em>Inception</em> star looked dreamy (get it?) traveling across the Atlantic, with a pair of our gray cropped jeans, paired with suede loafers, a graphic T-shirt, and a feathered derby. We think it’s another award-worthy performance, and a great lesson for whizzing through the airport in style.

TV Night! Watch HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” at the Kumble Theater in Brooklyn

27 Sep

If old-school 1920s gangsters are your thing, be sure to catch episode 2 of HBO’s newest drama, “Boardwalk Empire,” this Monday night at 6 p.m (and if you caught it last night, hey you can always watch it for a second time!). After the screening, members of the show’s creative team will be front and center to discuss the challenges of designing the completely cool and over-the-top Prohibition-era set and costumes (think bespoke suits for the boys and fox-trimmed evening coats over beaded chiffon dresses for the girls). Cigars optional.

Monday, September 27th, 6 p.m. -8:30 p.m.
Admission free
Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts (at Long Island University);
Flatbush Avenue (between DeKalb Avenue and Willoughby Street); 212-686-5005

Bottoms Up! The Trouser Happy Hour Comes To L.A.’s Soho House!

24 Sep

As you know, we take our togs very, very seriously. So, in order to truly show you how much we obsess our fall/winter trouser collection, we decided to assemble a very fabulous group of friends and 7 admirers to our Trouser Happy Hour at L.A.’s Soho House. Here, not only did we have a chance to introduce our sublime new selection of tailored bottoms, but a cool mix of celebs, stylists, and editors all got to wind down after a long day with cocktails, music, and lots of fashion inspiration. Thanks to Ashlee Simpson Wentz (who, by the way, loves the Georgia!), Amy Smart, Hayden Panettiere, and Stacy Kiebler, among other lovelies who came out to show their affection. Could the Trouser Happy Hour be moving to NYC??? Stay tuned…

3 Must-Have Pieces Just For The Fellas!

23 Sep

While dudes don’t have to update their fall wardrobes as much as the ladies, we still think September is the perfect month to breathe some fresh air into your colder-weather closets. With that in mind, we picked out three of our fave pieces that just hit the racks for the perfect seasonal makeover. Here are the items that are must-haves for the guys:

Above, from left:

1. Rhigby Jean In Concrete:
Hipsters take note: This jean is our skinniest cut yet! The slick silver color and the black racer-stripe down the legs means you can switch it out with your dress pants to add a fashion-forward injection at the next swanky cocktail party. If that’s not your speed, it will look just as good at the local dive bar, promise.
2. Plaid Western Shirt:
This flannel, in a linen-cotton blend, works for Indian Summer days, but can still be counted on to last you ’til the lower-temps. We love the tough, cowboy-ish print, and the yokes on the front shoulders
will take you back to the frontier days.

3. Leather Utility Jacket:
Made out of 100% super-soft lambskin leather, this jacket is James Dean 2010. Shrug it on—it’s so worn-in it will look like you’ve been wearing it for decades.

Kate Winslet Shows Us How To Rock 7 Shorts Into Fall!

22 Sep

Not everyone can get away with working shorts into their fall wardrobe, but screen siren Kate Winslet shows us how to get the look right in our roll-up denim shorts ($149) in the Haze wash. We can probably attribute the actress’ glow to her new model man (she recently made her first public appearance with him!), which shines through even in a gas run in Gloucestershire with her son. And perhaps the BF has helped her amp up her outfit-skills—the Hunter boots, cozy cardigan, and thick scarf make the shorts look surprisingly in season. Do you think if we try the trend, we’ll land our own man-candy?

We Love It! We Want It! Fall’s Best Utility Jacket

22 Sep
With the fall/winter chill finally entering the picture, we’re all sorts of psyched to be layering on lots of knits and jackets. And until the temps really drop, this herringbone Utility jacket is going to be our go-to top layer. Crafted of long-wearing, super comfy cotton twill, and fashioned in the most adaptable shade of faded black, this coat boasts serious style possibilities. Try it over a long floral dress and combat boots or with a pair of super classic black skinny jeans.
