Dressing For Bill

18 Feb

Decades before Scott Schuman of thesartorialist.com was roaming the streets snapping pics of fashion savvy sidewalk superstars, Bill Cunningham was capturing the essence of NYC style through his off-the-cuff and thought provoking street style photos. In the new documentary Bill Cunningham New York, set for release in NYC March 16th, director Richard Press takes an in depth look at the man behind the lens. For over 30 years, Cunningham has been known for his stunning yet spur-of-the-moment photographs of fashionably dressed New Yorkers – regardless of social status, occupation, race, or age. While looking at his photos, you can see a vivid story in the evolution of style and culture over the past three decades. I’ve watched the trailer for the movie a half a dozen times, and I can only wonder what the actual movie will be like! For more information about the film click here.
