McQueen Still King

29 Apr

We were stoked to find out that Kate Middleton choose to wear a dress designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen for her royal nuptials.  The dress embodied the classic elegance of English royalty while also staying relevant to 21st century fashion.  It just goes to show that McQueen is still King in the fashion world, and what would be more appropriate than an exhibit opening next Wednesday May 4th at The Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art honoring the work of the late fashion designer.  Running until July 31, “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty” showcases about one hundred of the designer’s extraordinary pieces, from gowns to jackets and trousers to skirts – designs that constantly challenged modern perceptions of beauty, sexuality, religion, and art.  For more information about the exhibit visit the Met’s official website.

And for McQueen fans who don’t live in New York, there’s a book entitled “Savage Beauty” that takes the same retrospective look into his design career.  Buy the book on Amazon here.
